Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 - Service manual > Oil Filter
- Place a tray under the engine oil filter.
- Loosen and remove oil filter (a) located on front bottom of engine (b) using special tool.
Inlet Manifold Rubber Flange
- Loosen and remove 4 Nos. Hex socket head bolts (M5) (a) located on inlet manifold of engine.
- Remove 2 Nos. inlet manifold rubber flange (a) from engine.
Starter Motor
- Loosen and remove 2 Nos. Hex flange head mounting bolts (M5) (a) holding starter motor (b) to crankcase (c).
- Gently pull out and lift starter motor (a) from engine.
NOTE
- Do not tap on the starter motor while removing it. Tapping may damage the internal components.
Breather Hose
- Release the clamp (a) to disconnect breather hose (b) from breather box (c).
Breather Box Cover
- Loosen and remove the 5 Nos. Hex head flange bolts (M6) (a).
- Gently remove the breather box cover (a) along with gasket (b).
Spark Plugs
CAUTION Before removing the spark plugs, blow away any dirt accumulated in the spark plug area with compressed air to prevent it from falling into cylinder head.
- Loosen and remove RH spark plug (a) from RH cylinder head.
- Repeat the procedure to remove LH spark plug.
Clutch Actuating Lever Assembly
- Loosen and remove Hex head bolt (M6) (a) from clutch actuating lever assembly (b).
- Rotate clutch actuating lever (a) in clockwise direction to release tension in spring (b).
- Remove clutch actuating lever (a) from clutch shaft (b) on cover.
NOTE
- Use a suitable wedge to slightly expand the slot in the clutch actuating arm and gently lift from the shaft.

NOTE Ensure the engine is properly clamped on the holding fixture on a worktable. Ensure the engine is clean and free of any oil residue/dirt. Clean engine with recommended degreasing agents/solvents to remove oil residue/dirt. Ensure worktable is clean and atmosphere is dust free.

Loosen and remove 14 Nos. Hex socket head screws (M6) (a) in a crisscross to remove clutch cover (b) from motorcycle RH. If the cover is jammed in the engine, gently tap on the tabs (a) provided on the cover using a plastic/ rubber mallet. Remove gasket (a) and 2 Nos. dowel pins (b) from clutch cover/engine.
