Crankshaft Journal Bearings
NOTE
- In case the crankshaft is being resued, please Do not disturb OR remove the journal bearings from the crankcase.
- Refer journal bearing selection chart before installing journal bearings into crankcase.
- Ensure journal bearings are cleaned and well lubricated.
CAUTION Install journal bearings carefully by hand. Do not use any tool. It may scratch the component.
- Match crankcase bearing code with the crankshaft code.
- Select appropriate bearing and assemble journal bearings on crankcase from LH side order.
- Locate crankshaft journal bearing in upper crankcase and ensure that journal bearings (a) are seated properly on crankcase (b).
Balancershaft Journal Bearings
NOTE
- In case the balancershaft is being resued, please Do not disturb OR remove the journal bearings from the crankcase.
- Refer journal bearing selection chart before installing journal bearings into crankcase.
- Ensure journal bearings are cleaned and well lubricated.
CAUTION Install journal bearing carefully by hand. Do not use any tool. It may scratch the component.
- Match crankcase bearing code with balancer shaft code.
- Select appropriate bearing and assemble journal bearings on crankcase from LH side.
- Align mark (a) of journal bearing with edge (b) in crankcase for balancer shaft.
Dowels
CAUTION Ensure the dowels are correctly located in the upper crankcase.
- Locate and gently press dowels (a) in the upper crankcase and ensure they are seated properly.
Timing Chain Tensioner Pad
- Position timing chain tensioner pad (a) in upper crankcase (b) with its rubber pad towards the cylinder barrel seating area.
- Ensure the lock pegs of the chain tensioner pad are seated correctly in the slots (a) in the upper crankcase.
Crankshaft
NOTE
- Ensure journal bearings are cleaned and well lubricated.
- Assemble timing chain (a) on crankshaft gear (b). Ensure it is seated properly.
- Gently locate crankshaft (a) on crankcase (b) duly ensuring the
following:
- The timing chain is correctly routed into the cylinder barrel seating area.
- The gear on the crankshaft is on the RH side (clutch side ) of the upper crankcase.

NOTE Ensure new journal bearings are located correctly in the connecting rods and caps. Connecting rod bolts are for one time use only. Do not reuse connecting rod bolts. Always replace them. Do not interchange connecting rod cap. Ensure the lug (a) in journal bearing is located in the grooves (b) on both connecting rod and cap is seated properly.
